“If the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.”
(Luke 12:39)
“Jesus doesn’t want to frighten us into the Kingdom. But there is surely an element of mystery regarding His Second Coming. No matter how spiritual we are, it’s going to surprise us.”
(The Word Among Us, Meditation for October 22, 2014)
I know it’s true, Lord! You have broken into my life so many times over the past year. Each time has been a complete surprise. Thank You! If I’d known You were going to break in, I might have stopped You out of confusion or fear of the unknown. Yes, I trust You, and yet….
As You know, we human beings are blind and weak. We think we know You; through our past experiences, we even believe we have come to understand Your ways. But You are full of surprises. You know exactly what we need and when we are prepared to receive it.
Please forgive my anxiety and fear. You, the Divine Thief, are welcome to break through my defenses and complacency any time You wish. Teach me what I still need to learn; show me what I need to see in myself and in Your creation to do my part to fulfill Your glorious plans. May Your will be done!
