Once again, these stones,
down in the damned darkness:
How the hell does this happen?
From the bright wedding feast,
the ecstatic bridal chamber —
to the dank, cool tomb of bones.
I scream and scream, praying
someone will hear; then gasping
in awe, I know here, now:
This place as heaven’s womb.
