“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8)
Is it not comforting to know that God notes our sorrows and tears?
Everyone deals with some combination of physical, mental or spiritual challenges. Although for our own good, God cannot put an end to the trials and difficulties of this life, He sees our suffering and He knows what is in our hearts as a result: animosity or compassion. Our tears are so precious to Him that He collects them and keeps them in a bottle. He remembers what we endure and He showers us with His pure love and peace.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
My husband and I just hours ago agreed to divorce. I just saw your reference to Psalm 56:8 and your reflections on it. It calmed me greatly and was just what I needed to hear. Thanks Lisa.

Oh Carol, I’m sorry to hear about your divorce. I’ve been there and I understand. I’m glad this post brought you some consolation. There’s another post on this site that might be comforting, too. You can find it at:
